Waterless car Wash Invades Redmond

The town of Redmond is just one of many jurisdictions who have joined together to raise awareness about pollution in Puget Sound. All pollutants going into the town’s storm drains flow inside local streams, rivers, lakes and ultimately Puget Sound without treatment.
The simple act of washing an automobile emits two types of pollutants unhealthy for water creatures, the car wash soap itself and auto-related pollutants just like road grime, break dust, oil and chemical toxins including copper and lead.
Currently, the city of Redmond recommends residents take their cars to a commercial car wash where the waste water is sent into the sanitary sewer system and treated before it’s released into Puget Sound.
However, waterless carwash products, used extensively in Australia, are actually making their way to the United States and can be used for the first time in a Redmond charity carwash this weekend.
“At Ra Salon Spa we believe in a natural method of health and wellness,” stated Sherlynn Brennan, spokesperson for Ra Salon Spa. “Our mission is actually to look after the entire world we live in, not merely in the world of beauty but everywhere. Protecting the Sound gives us the ability not to just make our guests beautiful, but make the environment gorgeous as well.”
“The city is excited about the prospects on this new product, a waterless car wash,” commented Peter Holte, City of Redmond Program Coordinator. “We appreciate Ra Salon’s willingness to use new things which can be a genuine help to the environment and Puget Sound.”
Ra Salon Spa is definitely an Aveda concept salon and spa offering a variety of services that vary from facials and massages to color and cuts.
